Image Details

If you happen to live in the United States, happy Fourth of July! If not, happy Monday. In either case, enjoy the fractal fireworks.

This particular image is not a terribly deep zoom—it measures about one thousandth of a unit across, where many of the other fractals that have been on display here measure in the billionths of units across. Of course, if one is looking for fireworks in the Mandelbrot set, a deeper zoom is not necessary (though, of course, the same structure can be found in infinite repetition at deeper and deeper levels of the set). The region shown is near \(-0.446+0.561i\), and the colors were chosen for what are (I hope) obvious reasons.
