Xander is currently a graduate student in mathematics. While he holds teaching credentials, the job market for middle and high school teachers is not very good at the moment, so he is instead passing time by working on a master’s degree and teaching remedial algebra at the university. Xander is rather enamored of mathematics, and views the subjects as an avocation as much as an academic pursuit or career. One manifestation of that interest in mathematics is this website—a project which he started in order to share some of his thoughts with a wider audience, consisting primarily of his high school aged sister.
The general intent of this website is to discuss interesting or beautiful mathematics. This is explained in a bit more detail in the post Mathematics and Beauty, which should be considered a starting point when reading through this website. In addition to mathematics, Xander has a wide range of interests, including aerobatic flight, anthropology, bad puns, and gaming. Any of these topics, and too many more to mention, are fair game in this space.
And, for those that are interested, some additional biographical information: Xander currently lives in Reno, Nevada with his wife, their two cats, and their Great Dane. He can be reached at xander AT yozh DOT org (replace words with symbols, as appropriate).
